ABSTRACT

Our school has participated in an intercultural project called "Education for the Child Rights" for four years. The project objectives are: to apply child rights into our education system and to strengthen the capacity of schools and their employees to respect them.  We stayed in Switzerland for 15 days in “the children's village”, where we were closely acquainted with the concept of non-formal education. We attended training on "Identity and non-discrimination". We learnt about other cultures and lifestyles in an unconventional way, and at the same time we learned a lot about ourselves and our culture. Before going to Switzerland some articles of the Convention on the Child rights were presented to us, and in Switzerland we implemented them, so that the methods of our research are observation and active participation in intercultural exchange. After Switzerland, when we better understood the importance of mutual respect, tolerance, teamwork, non-discrimination, etc., we told about our experience to our peers in the other two primary schools in Knjazevac and the partner school in Sokobanja, this time as trainers of workshops (peer education). However, the practical application of this research would be its application in different life situations, because the rights of the child are not only learnt, but applied in order to be safe and secure in all aspects of life.

APSTRAKT
